You know the feeling.

The feeling of being stuck, or the feeling that you’re not in control of your situation, can be daunting. You believe you should be doing something about this feeling, but you don’t know how to remedy it. Maybe you feel like you’re not on the right path.

I know we’ve all been there. I know I have.

  • You wake up and want to change your circumstances, but you don’t really know the next step you need to take in doing just that.
  • You’re in a place where you feel stuck, rooted, and unable to move in the right direction for more reasons than you can count.
  • You might play the blame game. You blame your feelings and your current circumstance on everything else around you, instead of looking within.

Some of us are experiencing this right now. And I’m here to tell you that you’re not stuck.

You have a choice — it’s just a matter of overcoming the fear and the obstacles that are currently in front of you. We just have to make a decision.

Make a decision.

You’re sitting at your desk in a job you hate — make a plan of action toward a better job solution. What can you do now to push yourself forward toward a better solution?

Maybe you’re in a relationship that you feel isn’t serving a good purpose and bettering your life, make a plan of action. You might have friends who are pulling you down or you’re barely making ends meet, make a plan of action.

You think there’s no way out of your current situation and your life has just stalled, whatever it may be, know this:

We are in control of how we prepare for what might happen.

A lot of things are out of our control. And in regards to what’s seemingly chaos, we have control over how we prepare. We have control over how we respond. Figure out a plan of action — a plan to rise up out of what may seem like a rooted circumstance that’s causing fear or frustration. And do a little R&R (resetting and reconnecting), as well.

R & R

Surrender

  • Surrender to what is right now.
  • Open yourself up to learning from what’s currently happening in this moment.
  • Acknowledge the feeling of being “stuck” that you’re having and the reasons that may be causing it.
  • Be honest, acknowledge, surrender to the present and feel the shift that happens from being in the moment.

Mute the Complaints / Change Your Perspective

  • Complaining really does lead to nowhere. It just brings down negativity on yourself and those around you.
  • Try to seek out the positive vibes.
  • Changing your perspective can help to brighten up your day and help you figure out a way forward.

Be Kind to Yourself

  • Try not to beat yourself up, from the smallest to the biggest things.
  • Show yourself kindness and give yourself room to grow.
  • Forgive yourself (and others) as well. Don’t let the past hold a grip on you any longer.
  • And remember, comparison is the thief of joy. You’re on your own path. You have your own journey to experience. Stay on your path.

Write It Down / Plan the Action

  • The pain, the anger, the frustration — without censoring, write it all down. Read it. Then, throw it away! Let it out. Let it go.
  • On the flip side, reevaluate your goals and write down some things you’d like to achieve.
  • Write down a plan of action for achieving them. This will help nudge you forward, rising you out of the rut.

There’s always a choice to be made. Be honest with yourself, and remember to show yourself kindness in the process.

Feeling stuck isn’t new. We’ve all been there and we might again at some point in our lives. Just remember who you are, what you can control, and let go of the fear.

Believing in your victory!
