This week, discover how to ditch the labels (and break free from their limitations)!
In a world obsessed with titles, achievements, and hustle culture, it’s easy to start believing that your value lies solely in what you do. For creatives, entrepreneurs, and professionals, identity often gets tangled up in roles. But what happens when the project ends… or you lose a job… or you outgrow the current ‘label?’
In this episode of Originate Now, we explore what it means to ditch the labels, redefine your identity, and create from a more authentic place — especially when you’re navigating transition or growth.
Let’s be honest: we’ve been taught that our worth is tied to our output. From early education to corporate ladders and social media bios, we’re rewarded for having a clear, impressive title. The pressure to be someone often becomes the pressure to perform someone.
But when your sense of self becomes dependent on your job, accolades, or creative success, burnout and disconnection aren’t far behind.
Sound familiar? You’re not alone, and you’re not stuck.
It’s time to shift the question from “What do you do?” to “Who are you becoming?”
Here’s the truth: your identity is not fixed. It’s allowed to evolve. You are allowed to outgrow old roles and explore new ones. You can choose again, from a place of self-trust and alignment.
The process of redefining yourself doesn’t require a total life overhaul. It starts with small, intentional steps.
1. Notice the Labels You’ve Adopted
Ask yourself: What roles or labels am I clinging to out of fear or habit? Are they helping me grow or holding me back?
2. Reconnect with Your Core Values
What matters to you beyond your output? What lights you up, regardless of who’s watching? Your values are the blueprint for a more grounded identity.
3. Explore Micro-Creativity
Give yourself permission to experiment. Try creative projects or practices that aren’t tied to monetization or performance. Let your curiosity lead.
4. Use Reflective Practices
Journaling, voice notes, or even daily check-ins can help you process who you’re becoming.

When you start letting go of the label / performance and embrace who you really are, your work begins to shift. It becomes:
You begin to build from the inside out, rather than reacting to what’s expected of you. And that is where meaningful work lives.
You’re a dynamic, evolving being — and your creative identity can evolve with you.
And you’re allowed to create again—this time, from who you really are.
