Feeling unmotivated or like your goals just don’t align with who you are, right now? Are you seeking ways to set goals… better? Better for you and your life? I got you! 🙂
The Goal-Better Way: A Kinder, Aligned Approach to Creative Goals (listen below)!
For many creatives, traditional goal-setting advice might fall flat. The formulas, checklists, and hustle mentality often leave us feeling disconnected, overextended, frustrated… and out of rhythm with our natural creative flow.
That’s why I created The Goal-Better Way, a framework for setting meaningful, self-congruent goals that are actually built for you.
This isn’t about hustling harder or optimizing every hour. It’s about crafting goals that honor who you are, how you work, and where you are right now.
“You either walk inside your story and own it, or you stand outside your story and hustle for your worthiness.” – Brenè Brown from her book, Rising Strong

Let’s walk through the shifts that make this approach different, and the supportive strategies that can help you reset the way you approach goals and creative momentum. AND a bonus guide to jumpstart the mornings, as well!
These foundational shifts help you break away from high pressure/hustle-based productivity and move toward sustainable, aligned growth:
1. Build from Values not from Outcomes
When you name the value, the path becomes a little clearer and more flexibe. Stop setting goals based on what looks impressive. Instead, choose goals that reflect your true identity and values.
Ask yourself:
Then rewrite your goal from the inside out!
2. Name Your Season
You don’t need to push harder. You need to align your goals with your creative cycles, energy levels, and the season you’re currently in.
Think about:
Here’s a journal prompt:
Let your goals grow from a position of clarity and your current season.
3. Set Happy Anchors Inside Goals
We often focus so much on the outcome that we forget to enjoy the journey.
Your goals, and the systems built within them, should feel like you! So, add a joy anchor/happy anchor to your next goal.
If you’re writing a chapter of your new book, write it in your favorite coffee shop, with your favorite music on, and just make it a vibe!
Tiny joy, big shift.
Add a signature element to your process that gives you that little happy feeling inside!
4. Audit Your Shoulds
Rather than chasing outside validation or rigid timelines, The Goal-Better Way invites you to lead with self-trust and align your values with your goals.
That also means, audit your shoulds. Is your goal something you think you ‘should’ be doing? Is it in agreement with who you are and your values?
Re-asses and make a list:
Then rewrite each one to reflect:
Start integrating The Goal-Better Way into your life and creative practice today by doing the following:
Map what gives you energy and what drains it. Use this data to guide your commitments and creative goals.
Energy awareness is clarity. It tells you what’s actually sustainable.
Before committing, ask: Is this goal rooted in clarity, timing, and is aligning with where I am right now? If it’s not a whole yes, it might be a not yet.
You don’t need to become a different person to reach your goals.
You need systems that reflect your values, adjust for your current season, and let go of the ‘shoulds.’
That’s the Goal-Better Way! Intentional, joyful momentum and forward movement toward your creative goals, setting better systems for your life, and enjoying the journey along the way!
