Healthy Daily Practices to Reclaim Who You Are

Healthy daily practices to reclaim who you are! I talked a little bit about resetting & reconnecting, when feeling stuck, back in February. As you go through a big event or different life changes, sometimes you may need a sounding board to work out your thoughts when things seems out of reach. A few thoughts to carry with you and small transformations to implement into your days.

“Transformation doesn’t ask that you stop being you. It demands that you find your way back to the authenticity and strength that’s already inside of you. You only have to bloom…” – Cheryl Strayed

HEALTHY DAILY PRACTICES, BLOOM, AND R & R!

Do you often find yourself thinking:

  • What am I doing with my life?
  • What do I want out of my life?
  • Is my ‘path’ changing?
  • Am I doing all that I can be doing with what I’ve been given?

And so on and so forth…

It’s easy to have this mindset, while living here in Los Angeles.

We’re constantly reminded that we should be hustling more and more. It surrounds us everywhere—in every coffee shop, store, and with pretty much every person we meet.

L.A. is a place where people come to chase their dreams, or to help bring their dreams to fruition and make them a reality. So it’s natural, in a way, that we—Angelenos—would have that mindset. But I’ve fully come to realize that that particular mindset isn’t healthy to have on a constant basis.

To continuously think about what we should be doing next and looking ahead, or having doubt when our version of our dream hasn’t happened yet, can also mean that we’re not fully connected in this moment and to our true selves…

Don’t get me wrong. I’m a planner, to an extent. I usually like to plan things out, but we all know that even when we have the most precise plans, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re going to happen the way we envision. It’s great to have some direction, but most importantly, you just have to trust your journey.

Trust your journey.

What does ‘trust your journey‘ really even mean?

I believe that we all have our own path—a path that leads us to our purpose, through our purpose, and to our victory. Trusting in that path and in our journey means doing all that we can do, staying true to who we are, and letting go of what’s out of our control.

There will be obstacles, doubts, and uncertainties along the way, but it’s important to try to stay centered, trust that what was, is, and will be is ours… and stay on path.

In order to be more proactive in this endeavor (in trusting your journey), it’s essential to take some time out of your week to check in with yourself, to reset and reconnect to who you are—to not look outward to the world for validation or confirmation but to seek what you already know to be true.

For me: I have faith in God and in my path, and I’ll reset, reconnect, and keep moving forward on that path.

Take some time out of your busy weeks to check in with how you’re doing and implement healthy daily practices. It’s easy to just not really think about ‘the deep stuff’… but we have to check in, take care of ourselves, and be bold enough to ask for help when needed.

Reset, reconnect, and know that our path is there right in front of us. We just have to learn to trust a little more.  I’m currently in the process of breaking-free from the hustle mindset. More on that later. But let’s take a look at daily practices you can implement, starting today, to ground yourself, reclaim who you are and reset when it’s needed.

Some R&R:

  • Stay present more—because now is what we know we have for sure.
  • Write down the pain, the anger, what’s bothering you (or say it aloud). Then, throw the paper away. LET. IT. GO.
  • Be truthful to yourself and listen to your body. When you need some rest, rest. When you need a laugh, laugh.
  • Incorporate wellness into your life. Become more aware of how you mentally and physically treat your body and your mind.
  • Limit how much time you spend on your phone.
  • Practice gratitude—because when we look at all of the little joys and blessings that surround us, open our eyes to it and acknowledge them, we’ll become more rooted in the present and in the path we’re currently on—which is the head space we should reset our minds to (reset/reconnect).
  • Trust your journey.

“Take a minute. Take some time. Find some moments to reconnect with you and to reconnect with your soul’s landscape. Your soul is constantly under duress. So give it a rest. Stop pushing down your pain. Stop masking the marks left on your heart from those who walked away or misused you. Stop denying your dreams, and start living with purpose. Stop acting as if you aren’t human. You are. And finally, stop being so busy, that you forget to just be…”

— Sophia A. Nelson

Bloom, trust your journey, take some time to ‘just be’… and reset and reconnect when you need it.

Believing in your victory!
